A few hours ago, for no particular reason, Ed Bagner made public a couple of remixes "from the archive"  by the french genius Surkin. So enjoy those masterpieces!

R.I.P. DJ Mehdi

Mehdi’s publicist has confirmed the tragic news, DJ Mehdi (Mehdi Favéris-Essadi) has died following an accident at his home. He was 34-years-old.

The French DJ/producer was a important member of Paris’s Ed Banger crew,
DJ Mehdi was one of France's leading hip hop producers who had collaborated with artists such as Chromeo, MC Solaar, Daft Punk, Kourtrajme, Akhenaton, Cassius, Versatile, Super Discount, Asian Dub Foundaton, K-os, Futura2000, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Carol King.

He had released two full-length LPs: 'The Story of Espion' and 'Lucky Boy', the latter on dance punk label Ed Banger. He was a resident DJ at the legendary Paris club Pulp, and often tours with Busy P and Justice.

Paris's Social Club has posted its Facebook: "Following the death of DJ Mehdi, we have made the exceptional decision to close the club tonight. An evening of silence in honor of the artist. Thank you for not commenting on this status."

A few of his best tracks...

we'll miss you.
"when mehdi smiled you wanted to smile. when he gave you a hug, you held it: because he was full of love, and we all knew it."
