Martin Solveig presents SMASH episode #4

Martin Solveig is back with a new episode of SMASH. This time for the track that gives name to his incoming EP, 'The Night Out'. An epic and hilarious chapter from one of the best Djs and producers on earth. A room with A-Track, Porter Robinson, Zedd, Dillon Francis and an invisible Madeon. I bet that more of one will kill for five minutes in that room!

You can order Martin's E.P. "The Night Out" on iTunes

And for those who really are interested about music, here you have a little of history about this mastermind...
...perhaps it is our well-documented mutual antipathy, or maybe it is our well-documented ignorance, but Britain’s perception of French music is plain wrong. On the surface, it is indeed the land that listens to Europap and still loves to jive badly to La Bamba ’ but scratch beneath the surface and you’ll find a wealth of talent gasping for air. It has a long and noble tradition of fine singers, musicians and producers, from y y to Guy Cuevas, from Jacques Dutronc to the Saintly Serge Gainsbourg and Jean-Claude Vannier; from Ze Records to Africanism! and from Cerrone to, yes, Martin Solveig.Martin Solveig has been involved in music since he was knee-high. As a boy, he studied classical music.
By age 13 he had acquired his pair of decks and began DJing, although it wasn’t until 1992 that he discovered electronic music. His schooling came courtesy of a sales job at the vaunted Parisian record store Champs Disques on Champs Elyses. Martin’s big break, at the tender age of 18 and thanks to the encouragement and support of mentor Claude Monnet, came when he landed the residency at prestigious Parisian nightspot Le Palace. A move to Les Bains Douches, a legendary club in the city, and then Solveig’s own Pure parties at Queen cemented his growing reputation as one to watch. But simply being a DJ has never been enough for Martin Solveig and his production ideas soon began to filter out on to vinyl, as he always knew they would. If Heart Of Africa, on his own Mixture label, drew admiring glances, it was his contribution to the Africanism series (with Bob Sinclar and DJ Gregory), the stunning Edony, which turned heads. Originally intended purely as a club track, Edony shot to the top of club charts and from there launched itself into mainstream arenas. Martin’s debut album, Sur La Terre, was the work of a young man bursting with ideas, styles, and experiments. Over the next few years Solveig hit hard with one killer cut after another, abetted by some frankly brilliant mixes by the likes of Pete Heller and Mousse T. Rocking Music, with its echoes of Prince and Michael Jackson, was an instant anthem wherever it was played and transferred from underground floors to Radio 1 playlists with consummate ease. The follow-up, I’m A Good Man, voiced by legendary growler Lee Fields, was a plaintive cry from a wronged man and in Mousse T’s Breakbeat Mix brought a taste of Noo Orleans funk to modern electronic dancefloors. ‘The new album probably has a slight flavour of the ’60s and ’70s, which have always embodied a certain freedom for me, being a child of the 80s, the economic crisis, the condom generation?!

Then I’m into wine, parties and low necklines, so I feel quite in tune with the title.’ So says Martin of his latest album, Hedonism, which amply showed the maturation of his productions, moving effortlessly from the familiar terrain of four-to-the-floor rhythms, to take in the sub-R&B of Black Voices or the audacious modern reading of Requiem Pour Un Con. ‘Serge Gainsbourg is a master and I wanted to pay humble tribute,’ says Martin. ‘The song provides a little break in the album’s progress, as well as a French touch that I’m attached to. I think the best songs are made to last and be covered. New versions always have something new to add, even if they never achieve the magic of the original.
‘This cover version, defiantly electronic, compared to the sparse and organic original, ably demonstrates the Solveig modus operandi, producing music that is simultaneously synthetic and natural, warm and glacial. ’I use both electronics and live musicians, sometimes with classical instruments like keyboards, horns and any piano instruments,’ explains Solveig. ‘Most of my drums are programmed, but what I really love is using classical instruments with an electronic device. For example I used a big B3 Hammond organ, recorded a whole session with a musician and then took bits from it and made it sound almost like an electronic sample. You still have the good quality of the instrument, but with the ability to make it a bit faster or more repetitive or whatever. That’s what I like ’ to get inside an organic sound and make it electronic.’ Martin Solveig is not prolific, but everything he makes is worth waiting for. He has always eschewed the remix treadmill, not because he disapproves of it, but it is simply not his path. Solveig’s destiny lies elsewhere.
His life is good. Fulfilled. ‘Even if I sometimes grumble a bit from tiredness, I’m a child blessed by fortune and very happy in his everyday life,’ chuckles Martin. ‘I should quote Karl Lagerfeld: ’Holidays are for people who work’.’ And all work and no play would make Martin a very dull boy indeed.

Martin Solveig - The Night Out (Madeon Remix)

The electro kid is back with a remix for Martin Solveig. Madeon is becoming one of the most promising stars of the music scene. And as his popularity is not going to stop growing in these coming months, so the best is you know more about his origin now, before everybody talk about him without knowing anything about this electronic music prodigy.

Madeon, whose real name is Hugo Leclercq, was born in Nantes, France in May 1994. His musical career began when he was 11 or 12 years and focuses more on style and Handsup pop under the name Dj Daemon. During that time Porter Robinson known as a forum for music production. They become friends and having conversations via Skype, for those talks, Robinson talks about his ideology when it comes to producing music, hard work and perseverance are very important and is fascinated Madeon.

Time passes and Madeon progresses steadily. His talent began to spread further by the world when it won the remix contest organized by Pendulum in 2010 for the song "The island". His victory was overwhelming taking Rob Swire (Pendulum singer) to disbelief, saying on his twitter "if he really is 16, must be the craziest girl in the world" I think those were his words. In the competition gained much popularity and feedback from great artists.Madeon feel very supported by the people and that encourages him to keep working hard, because the boards of reinforced Robinson.During the month of February 2011, released a remix for Yelle, the song "That veux tu". This remix was reached to issue during a TV show where this topic Yelle played in his concerts and even puts his remix. Madeon was very happy and satisfied because Yelle is very popular in France and was given a golden opportunity that definitely took advantage.

In 2011 he was expelled from the Institute which was, it was always told that a disaster in the classroom and now wants to focus on the music world. He wasted no time and continued his excellent work. Dropped during an interview he was doing a remix for someone Grande, which did not say who he was.The first performance was at the opening Madeon for the start of the Yelle concert in France. This performance showed that not only to music and remixes but excellent DJ skills are amazing. Starring in that it also showed an innovator when it comes to mixing music, used a laptop and a Novation Launchpad where I do a mashup to get you stiff.

The reaction of the people was very good.No doubt the remix catapult him to fame is the Deadmau5 - Raise your weapon (Madeon remix) that aired on the radio show of Pete Tong. Deadmau5 was amazed by the technique and ability Madeon, himself said that leap from his chair while listening to this remix of how good it was and also commented on Stream: "I did not want to have remixes of this topic until you hear the remix of Madeon ". Madeon commented in an interview: "Raise your weapon was an interesting project, someone like Deadmau5 remix is obviously exciting. I wanted to do a remix that was consistent with the rest of my music, to make sure that people getting caught through this remix knew that was my music. " Deadmau5 through a facebook message commented that he felt a little jealous of Madeon, as this was half the young. There was a day where you talk to him and handed me a link "secret", it opened and I found that climbed up the Mash days ago, this link I happened two months ago but I delete the old because it was incomplete, missing parts and samples but the idea was there.

There are few times I saw that video but as of today I still find amazing. In July of this last year 2011 I was very surprised to see up the new Mash-up called Pop Culture. It consists of 39 songs in about 3 minutes. What makes for Mash up is to take small pieces of songs and mix them, but so did the visits were lower than the scores could be observed 1000 visits and 12000 I like. It was something that surpassed the talent and genius reached. On 15 July 2011 this place a second tube set in a nightclub called "Something a la Mode" in Paris.
After this lesson of history here you have the best start for your week!

Madeon - BBC Radio 1 & 1Xtra Live in Hull

This French dance wunderkind Madeon wows the crowd a few days ago at Hull City Hall with a spectacular (maybe spectacular is not enough to express the way that this guy selects the tracks for his mixes) set during Pete Tong's show. Seems easy to launch so many samples with a huge mix of basses and make it sounds good but not... f**king electro Mozart you are awesome!
Dowload free here the last set from the youngest prodigy of electronic music scene!

Icarus by Madeon! The electro kid is back

He is the young prodigy of the electronic music scene, and everybody knows it since his ‘Pop Culture (Live Mashup)‘ became an instant success on Youtube, mashing up 39 tracks he like. With 17 years old this teenager has made probably the best remixes for names like Yelle, Pendulum or Deadmau5. Last night he was with Pete Tong  in BBC Radio 1, where he was interviewed and they released his new track 'Icarus'.
We personally have been waiting for this moment two months since he uploaded a video of his live on Paris Social Club with a teaser of this track. Check it because he won't disappoint you at all!

We take this opportunity to show you a little bit of his lives. This one was London in his second live ever. It is hard to believe that he is able to do this music at such a young age, so we can only say without a doubt that the future of Madeon will be something that you have not ever seen before!
